Move It! Move It!

An extremely important aspect of living a Healthy Lifestyle is regular exercise.  Exercise is a great way to combat the effects of high-calorie holiday eating and get you back on track with living a Healthy Lifestyle.  There are many other benefits that come with exercising regularly, such as:
  • Managing your weight (loss or gain)
  • Improving your mood
  • Having Fun, Fun, Fun!
  • Offsetting chronic illnesses
  • Boosting your energy
  • Help sleeping & improving your sex life :)
There are tons of "easy exercises" available for beginners and those who may feel that there is not enough time in a day to fit in a workout.  See for yourself at http://www.easyexercises.com/ .

Remember, in order to live a Healthy Lifestyle, movement of the body and it's muscles is vital!!

See you on Friday!!

Merry Christmas

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

I hope this holiday season is filled with lots of joy and love and family and gifts and cheer.

Since we're on the subject of being "filled", let's all remember to take it lite when in the presence of delicious family traditions like turkey & chicken, collard greens & potatoes, stuffing & yams.

Food is a huge part of American Family Tradition, but we don't have to binge until we're "huge".  Some things we can do to offset our potential over-eating are:
  • Taking a short walk
  • Fitting a workout in
  • Playing in the snow
  • Chasing little ones around the house, etc.
With all that said, let's enjoy this time with our families and friends and continue, even through the holiday season, to work toward living HEALTHY LIFESTYLES!!!

See you on Tuesday.

One "Must Do" for Everyday!!

For those of us who want to lose weight, be healthy, live longer, have a clearer mind and better memory....(and the list goes on) there is one daily practice that MUST be implemented.  That daily practice is
EATING BREAKFAST!!

Eating breakfast is an important part of living a healthy lifestyle.  Some of the benefits of eating a healthy breakfast are:
  • Increased Metabolism
  • Weight Management (gaining, losing or maintaining)
  • Nutrient Intake
  • Improved Memory and Concentration
  • and a decreased desire to eat too much or binge.
There are many healthy and tasty choices you can incorporate into your diet for breakfast.  Such as:
  • Fruit (in smoothies or just fresh)
  • Whole Grain and High Fiber Cereals
  • Natural Yogurts
  • Oatmeal
  • Multi-Grain English Muffins
  • Scrambled Eggs and more
So, let's make it a point to EAT BREAKFAST.  It's the most important meal of the day!!

Drink Up!

Water helps your body flush out negativity. Just as you have to flush out negativity from your mind in order to make the changes you will need to make to stay focused on living a Healthy Lifestyle, your body uses water to flush out all of the things it doesn‟t need or that don‟t belong.

The list of the benefits of water in living a Healthy Lifestyle is endless, but I‟m sure you get the message.

Hydration plays a huge factor in living a Healthy Lifestyle, simply because your body needs it to be healthy.

Let's make it a healthy weekend.

See you on Tuesday.

The Best Defense!!

I hope your weekend was just as eventful as mine.  For the 1st time in almost 5 years, I experienced common cold symptoms.  My nose wanted to run, my chest decided to ache a little and my throat forced me to add more honey to my daily cup of green tea with lemon.   Since I'm not a fan of over-the-counter medicines, I loaded my body with foods I knew of that would provide me with extra vitamins and minerals:

I ate broccoli.
I ate tangerines.
I drank orange juice.
I ate yogurt (probiotics).
I ate spinach.
I drank hot green tea with lemon & honey.
I cooked with onions & green peppers.
I baked lean chicken (protein).
I ate oatmeal with bananas & apples.

Best of all (and as usual), these simple, everyday foods provided me with enough nutrients and aid to my immune system to have me LEAP! out of bed this morning ready to take on the world.

The moral of this story is the reiteration that there is an abundance of "good health" found in the majority of the foods we normally consume and have loved for most of our lives.  With the right combination of fruits, & veggies, protein & fiber sources, water and exercise, we all can live healthy lifestyles without even trying as hard as some expect.

Let's make it a good and HEALTHY week by deciding to snack on fruit & veggies instead of cookies and cakes and other "processed" choices from the vending machines.

Ready For The Weekend!!

Many people live for the weekend and usually let go of all diets and programs being followed with the intentions of "getting back on track....Monday".   A quick word of advice; you can stay on track, even during the weekend.  No rocket science.

Two of the Must Do's of dieting or following any weight-loss program are:

1.  Tracking the foods you eat

2.  Planning your meals

By taking these two actions, you get to stay in the know about what your are putting into your body and also, how it affects your weight-loss or gain.

So, this weekend, remember to plan your meals, keep track of what you're eating and never over do it.

See you on Tuesday!!
